So far so good

I was going to write about how great my weekend was. As things turned out, I got busy (as usual) and decided to sleep rather than post. Here's a quick update:

The St. Finbar young adult picnic was a great success. We had a lot of new faces show up, which just goes to show that there are a lot of us bumming around on any given Saturday looking for something fun to do. We met at Johnny Carson Park for a different variation on our monthly potluck. We had people show up from all over the diocese since we posted announcements in just about every parish bulletin in LA. Hopefully it will only get bigger.

I went to a video shoot and a movie on Sunday. The Arclight is a really nice theater. I can't believe this was the first time that I've made it over there. I guess I usually get lazy and go to the local Burbank AMC. Why fight the traffic?

The Happiest Place on Earth

I don't think I've ever mentioned it on this blog, but I've been working at Disney for about a month now. It's really exciting for me since this job is exactly what I've been looking for. The fringe benefits are pretty good as well.

My official title is "production associate," but I end up doing more script coordinating than anything else. This hasn't been like other PA jobs where you end up making coffee and copying all day, which is great. Much of my job involves attending storyboard pitch sessions to keep track of script changes. I then make sure all the new lines are recorded in scratch (practice voices) and production (the real voices you will hear in the movie).

In any case, the reason for that quick job description was so that I could tell you about the DisneyToon Studios party we had yesterday. It was a pretty good time overall, and it gave me a chance to meet some people from other productions. I also was able to talk with some of the directors and creative execs in a more casual setting--something that doesn't happen very often for me. I'm most impressed just by the quality and amazing level of talent that was present at the gathering. There are some really good people working at that studio.

Back Again-This Time I mean it!

I've decided to start posting again after another long break. This will be a short one, but hopefully I will write more detailed postings in the future. Many great new things have been keeping me too busy to maintain this site over the past few months (a new apartment and new job, for example.) I'm expecting to have a little more time on my hands now, and even if I don't I'll make the time to keep you all informend on the exciting and not so exciting things that are going on in my life.

Until next time,
