ND vs. The campus where I work now

I can hardly believe it, but I guess I've been at my new job for three weeks now. I think I've mentioned before that one of the great things about this new position is that it is right on the studio lot. Actually it's more of campus than a lot, as I've been discovering recently. Here then, I present a point-by-point comparison between ND's campus and where I work now.

Benches--both ND and the studio have a million of them, most of which are dedicated to various people who probably paid for them.

Squirrels--both have really tame and overweight squirrels. They will follow you around forever and expect to be fed.

Food--I've been eating lunch lately at a very "SDH" like commissary. The food is about the same, and the only difference is that you have to pay way too much for it here (kind of like if you didn't have a meal plan at ND).

Various internationally recognizable landmarks--At ND of course you have the dome, the stadium, and Touchdown Jesus. We have the same sorts of things, but all of them involve cartoon characters instead of religious symbols.

Buildings--You can tell someone spent a lot of money on architects.

Bikes--People ride them everywhere, and they always come close to running you over.

That's all for now. Have a great weekend!

Guess what day it is...

Happy Birthday Mom! Your gift is in the mail (or maybe I'll just bring it with me when I come home in a few weeks!)

Busy Busy

Sorry for the semi-extended absences here. I'm a little overwhelmed because so much is going on and I don't have the patience or time to write it all down now. Here's the summary:

The new job is going well, but they're keeping me really busy (surprise!). My first three days were amazing slow but, just as I suspected, a lot of work hit me all at once. It's a good change though, and I'm learning some new things about the computer animation process. And, best of all, I get to drive through the main gate of the lot without getting turned away.

As for my 1,670 words per day, lets just say all of this job stuff has made me a fall a little behind. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I'm having a hard time crossing the 10,000-word mark mostly because I haven't been making the time to write. So much for novel writing month I guess. I still have delusions that I will hurry and catch up with the pack, so we'll see what happens.

PS. Happy Anniversary to my parents! I hope you have some time this summer to enjoy your new swing!

So Much to Type, So Little Time

Wow, a lot has happened since my last post. Most importantly, I have a new job! Apparently I start on Monday, which means instead of two weeks notice I was able to give two days. But my old producer worked it out with my new one, so it looks like I'm set. I'll be starting on Monday with my new job on the lot. That's right, no more satellite buildings--I'll be in the middle of it all. Actually most people I've worked with say they prefer not being on the lot, but since it's new for me I'm sure I'll enjoy it. More later on that.

It's also National Novel Writing Month, which means it's time to write that novel you've always thought about but never the time (or the will) to write. I'm running a little behind schedule--I should be writing at a rate of 1670 words per day but I've been a bit of a slow-poke. I guess it's time to catch up. Do the words in my weblog count towards my total?
